Sports: 12 Indians enter ISSF World Junior Championship finals

New Delhi: Twelve Indian players aced the qualifiers to progress into the finals of the World Junior Championship organized by the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) at Lima, Peru, on Thursday.

The ISSF championship comprised six individual qualifying-round events on Wednesday, where all events were designed as Olympic disciplines. India is expected to bag at least four gold medals in the corresponding team events.

Sarabjot Singh finished second to Naveen who topped the Junior Men’s 10m air pistol with a score of 584, whereas Vijayveer Sidhu became the third Indian to qualify, with 581 points at rank four. Rudrankksh Patil (630.2), Dhanush Srikanth (629.6), and Parth Makhija (629.2) secured a place in Junior Men’s 10m air rifle finals.

Rhythm Sangwan was declared the best Indian shooter in the Junior Women’s 10m air pistol event with a score of 577.

Meanwhile, Manu Bhaker finished third with 574 points and Esha Singh scored 572 at rank 5.
