New Delhi: Union Rural Development and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will launch the Grih Pravesh of five lakh completed houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) during a beneficiary conference and state-level award ceremony in Satara, Maharashtra, on Friday.
The event, to be held at the Sainik School Ground in Satara, will also be attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar, along with senior government officials and beneficiaries.
During the programme, Chouhan will hand over house keys to six PMAY-G beneficiaries, including the beneficiary linked to the completion of the three-croreth house under the rural housing scheme, which the government described as a landmark achievement.
The Union Minister will also issue PMAY-G Mother Sanction involving central assistance worth Rs 8,368.50 crore for Maharashtra for the financial year 2026-27. Additionally, approval for 35 road projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-IV worth Rs 122.98 crore will be announced, benefiting 35 rural habitations in the state.
According to the government, PMAY-G aims to provide pucca houses with basic amenities to eligible rural households. Against the national target of 4.15 crore houses allocated under the scheme, more than 3.03 crore houses have been completed as of May 11, 2026.
In Maharashtra, 41.42 lakh houses have been sanctioned against the target of 43.80 lakh houses, while 17.92 lakh houses have already been completed. In Satara district, 24,848 houses have been completed out of 54,759 sanctioned houses.
The government said the PMGSY-IV projects, covering nearly 96 km, are aimed at improving all-weather rural connectivity and access to healthcare, education, markets and public services. Maharashtra has already seen over 34,000 km of rural roads and more than 1,000 bridges sanctioned under PMGSY with investments exceeding Rs 15,000 crore.
