New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday announced a ‘military operation’ in Ukraine to defend separatists in the east of the country. “I have made the decision of a military operation,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
The Russian president has also vowed retaliation against those who interfere with Moscow’s Ukraine operation.
President Joe Biden on Wednesday condemned Russia’s “unprovoked and unjustified attack” on Ukraine as he vowed that the world will hold Russia and President Vladimir Putin accountable.
The tensions between Moscow and Kyiv have escalated following Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of the Ukraine breakaway regions.
Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged the Russian President to stop his troops from attacking Ukraine as the tensions escalate between the two neighboring countries.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister has urged the world to act now as he claims that Russia has launched a full-scale invasion against his country.
“Ukraine will defend itself and will win. Putin has just launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Peaceful Ukrainian cities are under strikes. This is a war of aggression. The world can and must stop Putin. The time to act is now,” he said.
After Putin announced military action against Ukraine, Biden in a statement said that “President Putin has chosen a premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic loss of life and human suffering.”
