New Delhi, July 27: French rugby player Melvyn Jaminet has been suspended for 34 weeks and fined 30,000 euros by the French Rugby Federation (FFR) following the ‘racist’ video he posted on social media.
Earlier this month, during France’s summer tour of Argentina, Jaminet posted a video on his social media accounts that included racist comments attacking the Arab community, the media reported on Saturday.
His teammates Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou were also charged with rape of a 39-year-old woman during the Argentina tour.
After his suspension, Jaminet quickly apologized, “I understand that this has hurt
and offended many people. I want to make it clear that these remarks do not reflect my values or those of the French Rugby team. Racism is unacceptable and goes against everything I believe in.”
Due to suspension, Jaminet,25, will miss more than half of the club season, the 2025 Six Nations, and the November Internationals.
