New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a summit-level talk with President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani later on day. In this video conferencing talk – India and Afghanistan are likely to sign an agreement on the Shahtook Dam.
Shahtook Dam will provide clean drinking water to 2 million people of Kabul and it may help Afghanistan in irrigation.
The Prime Minister is going to hold the first virtual summit of this year.
Last year, PM Modi had several virtual summits with his counterparts from Australia, EU, Sri Lanka, Denmark, Italy, Luxembourg, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam.
India consistently helps Afghanistan in its development and Afghanistan has received 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine from India.
India and Afghanistan share close ties and its strengthened amid the coronavirus pandemic. According to the Indian embassy in Kabul, India is the first responder to deliver COVID-19 vaccines to Afghanistan. India had earlier gifted more than 20 metric tonnes of medicines to Afghanistan as part of assistance to help the country deal with the pandemic.
