New Delhi, April 13: Venezuelan triple jumper Rojas Yulimar, who underwent surgery on Thursday, will miss the Olympic Games set to start in Paris in July. The 28-year-old had injured her left Achilles tendon during a training session in Spain.
In the statement released on Instagram on Friday, she said “My heart is broken and I want to say sorry that I will not be able to take part in Paris 2024.” The last competition Rojas competed in was the 2023 Diamond League final. She became a champion for the third time consecutively.
She is known as a queen of the triple jump and won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. She is also a four-time world champion, three-time indoor world champion, three Diamond Leagues, and two-time South American champion.
