NEW DELHI, Dec 1: The counting of votes for the Mizoram assembly elections has been pushed back by a day to December 4. It was earlier scheduled to be held along with four other states on December 3.
The revision of the date was made by the following protests in the state organised by Mizoram NGO Coordination Committee (NGOCC) which was opposed to the counting being held on a Sunday.
The group had earlier expressed displeasure over December 3 as the counting date falls on Sunday, a sacred day for Christians, who form a majority in the state.
The counting of votes in the four other states, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Telangana will be taken up as per schedule on December 3, the ECI said.
