New Delhi: Two persons died and two others suffered burns when an aircraft crashed in the town of Santee, about 30 km northeast of San Diego, California, USA, late Monday evening.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane was a twin-engine Cessna C340 that crashed some 3 blocks from Santana High School.

According to Justin Matsushita, Deputy Fire Chief, “2 people died at the scene, and 2 are in hospital for an unknown condition.”

Fire Chief John Garlow said, “The fire from the engine completely gutted a house and burnt another house. A box truck, possibly a package delivery vehicle, also burned.”

Two other people received severe burns, though it was difficult to determine whether they were on the ground or aboard the plane during the incident,” he added.

A resident revealed how the neighbors pulled his mother out of a window of their burning home and rescued his stepfather from the backyard but could not save their pet dog. No whereabouts of the plane, its origin, destination, or the number of passengers aboard are known so far.
