Maharashtra: Over 200 local doctors and 60 BEST employees tests positive

Mumbai: The latest news that arrived from Maharashtra is shocking for all the people of India as around 230 local doctors in the state and 60 Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) employees tested positive in the last three days.

Besides, 60 resident doctors at the King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital, 80 at the Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital, and another seven at R N Cooper Hospital have tested for covid-19 positive. All these three hospitals – are run by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

According to the health department of Maharashtra – the state has reported more than 26500 new cases of covid-19 on Wednesday. Mumbai health authority registered more than 15100in Mumbai.

With these, Mumbai’s tally of COVID-19 cases jumped to 8,33,628, while the death toll increased to 16,384. The overall growth rate of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai is 0.78 percent, and the doubling rate of patients is 89 days. The recovery rate is currently at 90 percent in the city.

Earlier on Tuesday, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said that a lockdown will be imposed in the city if the daily COVID-19 cases cross the 20,000-mark.
