New Delhi: Prime Minister of Israel Naftali Bennett on Monday said that he was looking forward to working with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi. A newly elected Prime Minister showed interest to develop “unique and warm relations” between the two democracies.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier congratulated Bennett on being sworn in as Israel’s new Prime Minister.

PM Modi said that he also looked forward to meeting him and deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries as they celebrate 30 years of the upgrade of diplomatic ties next year.

Alternate Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid also said Israel’s new government would work to “advance strategic relations” with India. “I look forward to working together to advance the strategic relations between our countries,” he tweeted.

PM Modi tagged former Prime Minister Netanyahu in a tweet and said “As you complete your successful tenure as the Prime Minister of Israel, I convey my profound gratitude for your leadership and personal attention to the India-Israel strategic partnership.”

A-49-year-old leader Naftali Bennett became the new Prime Minister of Israel on Sunday and he is the leader of the right-wing Yamina party.

Former PM Netanyahu served the nation for 12 years.
