New Delhi: The Indian ace shuttler PV Sindhu defeated Japanese player Aya Ohari 21-15, 21-10 during the women’s singles round two of the Korea Open 2022 at the Palma Stadium, Suncheon, South Korea, on Thursday, April 07, 2022.
Sindhu dominated both sets from the beginning and prevented her opponent from staging a comeback. She displayed powerful smashes and ousted Ohari within 37 minutes.
The World no.07 Sindhu was leading the opener with 11-9 points at the first break. However, she adopted an aggressive powerplay and made breakpoints. She ultimately made long rallies to win the first set 21-15.
Though Sindhu made a faulty start in the second set and was trailing 4-8, she shifted her forehand throw and court strategy and levelled scores. Sindhu further progressed to win two more points before World No. 26 could initiate a tiebreaker.
The Indian badminton player steadied her pace and went on to win ten straight points against the Japanese. Sindhu won the match 21-15, 21-10.
PV Sindhu will face Thai player Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the Korean Open 2022 quarterfinals on Friday, April 08, 2022.
