Shivamogga: A 26-year-old Bajrang Dal activist was stabbed to death by some unknown person in Karnataka’s Shivamogga on Sunday at around 9 pm. Bajrang Dal activist was taken to the Mc Gann district hospital where he passed away.

State Home Minister Araga Jnanendra dismissed speculation of the murder being related to the hijab row but said “An investigation will soon reveal the motive.”

Jnanendra appealed to the people to remain calm. “We are yet to find the motive behind the murder. Reserve police are being deployed in Shimoga,” he said.

A special team has been formed to investigate the murder and rapid action force personnel are being deployed.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday spoke to the home minister to take a status update on the investigation. According to sources, Jnanendra informed the CM that 4-5 people could have been involved in the youth’s murder.

“Communal forces are filling communal dirtiness in school students. These forces are tarnishing the future of the country. Many forces working between us to destabilize the nation, we need to be cautious.” Jnanendra said.
