Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai Orders Closure of Schools and Colleges for Three days

Bangalore: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai ordered the closure of schools and colleges in the state for the next three days as the hijab row in Karnataka escalated.

Protests erupted at several places in the state, including at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College in Udupi as students wearing hijab and saffron scarfs clashed and raised slogans at the campus.

Karnataka CM all the students, teachers, and management of schools and colleges as well as people of Karnataka to maintain peace and harmony. I have ordered the closure of all high schools and colleges for the next three days. Three-day holidays for high schools and colleges announced. All concerned are requested to cooperate.

In Bagalkote, clashes and stone-pelting were reported after students forcefully tried to enter the college campus. Police prevented them from entering and resorted to mild action against the protestors.
