Srinagar: The Security forces on Thursday late night killed three terrorists in an encounter conducted at Budgam district.
The firefight between terrorists and security forces took place after a joint team of the police and the security forces cordoned off an area in Zolwa Kralpore Chadoora and launched a search operation based on specific information about the presence of terrorists.
As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where terrorists were hiding, they came under a heavy volume of fire and retaliated.
This is the sixth such anti-terror op in as many days, and a total of eight terrorists have been killed.
Police have said a large cache of arms of ammunition, including two US-made M4 assault rifles, were recovered; this is the second time in a week that US-made rifles have been recovered from terrorists after an encounter in J&K.
