JEE Main: 14 Candidates Score Perfect 100

NEW DELHI, Feb 11: Fourteen candidates from across the country have bagged a perfect 100 score in the first edition of engineering entrance exam (B.E/B.Tech) JEE-Main 2025, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced on Tuesday.

Of the 14 toppers, five toppers were from Rajasthan alone followed by two each from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and one each from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Telangana. Thirteen of the toppers are male and one is a female student. Two out of the 14 top scorers belong to OBC and SC categories while rest belong to general category. A total of 12,58,136 candidates had appeared for the first edition of the exam.

According to an official statement by NTA, JEE scores are normalised scores across multi-session papers and are based on the relative performance of all those who appeared for the examination in one session. “The NTA score of a candidate is not the same as percentage of marks obtained but normalised scores converted into a scale of ranging from 100 to 0 for each session of examinees,” the statement added.

While the first edition of the exam was conducted in January-February, the second edition will occur in April. Based on the results of JEE-Mains Paper 1 and Paper 2, the candidates will be shortlisted to appear for the JEE-Advanced exam scheduled for June later this year, which paves way to get admission into the 23 premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

“After both sessions of the JEE (Main) 2025 exam for Paper 1, the rank of candidates will be released taking into consideration best of the two NTA scores,” the statement said. Based on the report submitted by the High- Level committee of Experts on “Reformation of National Common Entrance Testing in India,” NTA co-ordinated with State and district authorities to form committees and carry out physical audit of exam centres.

As many as 277 city co-ordinators, 894 observers, 38 NTA flying squad and representatives of government cyber security agencies were deputed for exam duties in various cities and centres. Also live CCTV surveillance was planned and arrangements for live viewing of remote locations from Control Room located in NTA premises was made.

The examination was held in 13 languages including Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

The exam was also conducted in 15 cities outside India including Panama, Doha, Dubai, Kathmandu, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, Singapore, Kuwait City, Kuala Lumpur, Abu Dhabi, West Java, Washington, Lagos and Munich.
