New Delhi: A special CBI court on Thursday sent former Finance Minister to judicial custody until September 19 in connection with the INX Media case.
The senior Congress leader, who had already spent 15 days in CBI custody, will now be sent to Tihar Jail. He was arrested by CBI on August 21 after the court rejected his plea for anticipatory bail.
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court had refused to grant him pre-arrest bail in the INX Media case.
In a partial relief, however, a Delhi court granted him and his son Karti anticipatory bail in the Aircel-Maxis case lodged by both the CBI and ED.
Granting relief to the father-son duo, Special Judge O P Saini directed them to join the probe in the cases. He also said that in the event of arrest, they can be released provided they furnished personal bond of Rs. One lakh and a surety of like amount each.
