India Registers 13,596 new covid-19 cases in last 24 hours

New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry on Monday informed that the country has reported a huge decline in Covid-19 cases. India reported 13,596 cases on Sunday which is the lowest in 230 days.

The active caseload in the country stands at 189,694 which is also good for the nation and the people of the country.

The recovery rate is currently at 98.12% which is the highest since March 2020.

19,582 recoveries in the last 24 hours are taking the total recoveries to 33,439,331. Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.56% which is the lowest since March 2020.

Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, World Health Organisation (WHO) chief scientist, on Sunday said the WHO technical advisory group will meet on October 26 to consider approval for India’s homegrown Covaxin.

Across the country, 97.79 crore vaccine doses have been given so far as it chases the goal to fully vaccinate 108 crore, adults, by the end of this year.

On Sunday, for the first time since the start of the pandemic, Mumbai recorded no deaths linked to Covid. “This is great news for all of us in Mumbai,” Mumbai civic commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal told the media.
