India records 1.68 lakh Covid cases, lower than yesterday

New Delhi: India on Tuesday reported 168,063 new covid cases in the last 24 hours – which is 6.4 percent lower than the number of yesterdays. On Monday, the country had recorded 1.79 lakh Covid cases.

India also witnessed 277 fatalities due to COVID-19, and the country’s death toll has now increased to 484,213.

According to the Union Health Ministry data – The total tally of Omicron cases in the country also rose to 4461. A total of 28 states and Union territories have reported cases of the new COVID-19 variant – including Maharashtra (1,247), Rajasthan (645), Delhi (546), Karnataka (479), and Kerala (350).

Around 1711 patients infected by omicron are discharged or recovered.

On Monday, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya virtually interacted with State Health Ministers, Principal Secretaries or Additional Chief Secretaries, and Information Commissioners of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa, Dadra & Nagra Haveli, and Daman and Diu.

Maharashtra, one of the worst-hit states by the Covid pandemic, reported 33,470 new COVID-19 cases and eight deaths on Monday.
