India Open 2022: PV Sindhu Defeats Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli 2-0

New Delhi: Indian Badminton player P.V. Sindhu won her opening match by defeating fellow compatriot Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli in two straight games 21-5, 21-6 in Women’s round one of the India Open 2022 at the K. D. Jadhav Indoor Hall on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

The first set began with Sindhu taking early domination and leading the match by 4-0. She attacked her opponent from all fronts and left little room for Kudaravalli to score. Though Kudaravalli tried creating momentum after scoring a point, she seemed to fizzle under pressure.

Meanwhile, Sindhu had a smooth lead of 11-4 at the interval and cruised through the set by 21-5.

However, Kudaravalli charged aggressively at Sindhu in the second set. Her focus, swiftness, and court coverage helped Kudaravalli save the net on numerous occasions and equalise scores 6-6. Kudaravalli put a tough fight before Sindhu picked pace and raced to lead again with 11-6 at the interval.

Though Kudaravalli tried defending the net, Sindhu delivered a cross-court smash and won another point. Kudaravalli tried narrowing the gap despite unforced errors. The second set ended with a 21-6.

The two-time Olympic medallist defeated Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli within 27 minutes in two straight sets by 21-5, 21-6.
