New Delhi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General MM Naravane on 73rd Army Day sent good wishes to the Indian army and said “Indian Army is and will always remain strong and capable.”

General MM Naravane said that “On the occasion of Army Day-2021, I convey my felicitations and warm wishes to all ranks of the Indian Army, civilians, our veterans and their families. Today, we salute the valour of our brave hearts, whose supreme sacrifice in the line of duty shall always inspire us. I also reaffirm our unstinted support to our ‘Veer Nains’ and their families.”

“Our brave officers, JCOs and soldiers have given a befitting reply to our adversaries, many laying down their lives in the highest traditions of the Indian Army,” he said.

On the terrorism and issues at border, Naravane said that “While remaining committed to resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomacy, the Indian Army has been swift and decisive in its response to counter any attempts to unilaterally change the status quo on the Line of Actual Control. Relentless operations against state-sponsored terrorism have reinforced moral and operational ascendancy along the Line of Control.”

The Indian army is the second largest army in the world after China. The Indian Army was the third largest Army in the world but surpassed the USA in 2020 and became the second largest army in the world.

The first Indian Army Chief took over the post on 15 January 1949 from the British. COAS General MM Naravane extended warm wishes to the troops and their families but also gave a powerful message to India’s adversaries.

Diplomatic discussions and relations are different things but the Indian Army remains always ready to counter any unpredicted activity of enemy nations. Armed forces are taking all necessary steps and giving strong replies to the enemies.

The Indian Army enjoys a distinctive space in the hearts and minds of our citizens.

President of India Ram Nath Kovind too extended his greetings on the momentous day and said “India will remain forever grateful to courageous” soldiers.

“On Army Day, greetings to the valiant men and women of the Indian Army. We remember the brave hearts who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation. India will remain forever grateful to courageous and committed soldiers, veterans and their families. Jai Hind,” President said.
