New Delhi: In what is seen as further tightening of screws on Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi, former US ambassador to India Tim Roemer has said that Pakistan is hyping up the Jammu and Kashmir issue and that its Prime Minister is increasing volatility in South Asia by personally attacking his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

Former US Ambadssador to India Tim Roemer.

During the Barack Obama presidency, Roemer, as the US Ambassador to India from 2009 to 2011, Roemer was responsible for deepening and widening the Indo-American partnership.

He urged the US policy makers to remain “steady towards ties with India and pressurize Pakistan to show “real results” on anti-terror cooperation.

In a tweet, tagging Khan’s recent piece in The New York Times, where he threatened the world with the spectre of a nuclear war over Kashmir, Roemer said  the Pakistani PM is hyping up the situation in the  border state, launching person attacks against Modi, and fanning volatility in the region.

Recently, Roemer had condoled the death of former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, describing the senior BJP leader as “a bridge builder, brilliant lawyer, and huge cricket fan”. The people of India will miss a dedicated public servant, he tweeted.
