New Delhi: The Mohammedan SC beat TRAU FC 2-1 during the I-League championship at the Naihati Stadium, Kolkata, on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
TRAU began the match on a cautious note as they played defence. Both teams failed to create chances in the first 15 minutes. However, the game momentarily halted when Nikola Stojanovic hurt his neck and underwent a medical inspection in the 20th minute. SC goalkeeper saved a corner from TRAU in the 24th minute.
The match became intense when both teams started attacking each other. TRAU player Fernando Jose Gomes Junior shot a left-foot free-kick at the back of the net in the 33rd minute. Meanwhile, SC player Faisal Ali shot a left foot past the TRAU keeper, Amrit Gope, and levelled scores during the additional three minutes of the first half.
The second half began with SK Faiaz assisting Marcus Joseph in the 70th minute. Gope failed to save the net, and SC scored another goal. Though six minutes were added in the second half, TRAU could not to capitalize on the opportunity. SC won the match 2-1.
