Chandigarh: Doctors in Haryana have decided to go on mass leave after the Haryana government allegedly backtracked on its promises to the medical officers. Trouble for the state government and patients has arisen as doctors are on strike by January 11.

According to Haryana Civil Medical Services Association (HCMSA), the Haryana government has ignored their demands and backtracked on promises made by state health minister Anil Vij.

The strike call comes as the state health authorities face the massive health challenges posed by COVID in the past two weeks – along with an increase in hospital admissions.

Doctors would have been the last to go on strike. We postponed our strike three times after assurances from health minister Anil Vij. However, things are not going as promised, and thus we were forced to go on strike. After this, we will plan an indefinite strike as well.

“We have demanded that government create special sub cadre for Specialists and rollback of PG policy for doctors. The doctors have protested against the withdrawal of orders of direct recruitment of Senior medical officers.” HCMS said.
