Globally down Gmail services resumes in India: Google is still “continuing to investigate this issue”, awaits official statement of resolve

Surat/Bengaluru: As the hashtag ‘Gmail’ is still trending No.1 on Twitter, Google in its official status on https://www.google.com/appsstatus said that it is trying to resolve the issue.

Although, team REVOI has noticed that the issue of Gmail services being down has resolved. The emails are being exchanged perfectly and attachments are easy being sent as before. The official statement from Google still awaits.

“We are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 8/20/20, 3:08 PM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem.

Gmail sending issues, Meet recording issues, Creating files issues in Drive, CSV user upload issues in Admin Console, Posting message issues in Google Chat, Sites adding new pages issues, Keep issues, Voicemail issues” writes Google on status.

Today at around 11 AM, a growing number of users reported that Google’s email client, Gmail, is not letting them send mail ‘email’ or ‘attach files’. ‘Down Detector’ shows that the problem is not just for people in India, but also in Australia, Japan, and other parts of the world.

According to reports available, users tried to send emails with attachments and Gmail showed an error. It has been over 4 hours now that people across the world are facing this issue.

Users took to Twitter and Down Detector website to talk about the issues and highlight the problems they are facing with Google’s services, especially Gmail.

Downtown detector a real-time outage tracking website has reported 61% have reported that they are unable to upload attachments, 22% are facing problems in log-in and 15% have reported problems in receiving messages.

Parts of Pakistan reported 80% outage in log-in and 20% in search services.

According to outage map by ‘Downtown detector’ website, the reports of disruptions were centered in Japan and Western Europe. The SAARC countries affected by outages are India, parts of Karachi in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Afghanistan, Nepal and Bhutan largely remain unaffected.

The platform is important for most users right now, since almost everyone is working from home and mails are one of the few ways of communication. Many twitterati have complained about their exams. “My son’s school’s unit test is happening through google classroom from last four days, at 4.00 pm daily. Today also it was scheduled at 4.00, they waited for more than an hour and all the students could not login.” said, tweeter user.

When REVOI, contacted Asela Waidyalankara a technocrat in Sri-Lanka. He reverted stating, “Hi, well it’s a Global outage which SL is also affected, Well, overall, most all users are affected.”

Latest Update: “Gmail service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future. Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change.” writes Google on status at 3:10 PM IST.
