New Delhi: The Mohammedan Sporting Club defeated Chanmari Zothan 5-1 in Group A qualifiers to advance to the semifinals of the Hero Futsal Club Championship 2021 on Tuesday.
Though Bengaluru Football Club lost to Kuppuraj Football Club 2-3 in Group B, they secured a place in the semis.
The Group A qualifier had Mohammedan dominating the match with their first goal by Filbert Pereira in the 11th minute. Both teams played cautiously, waiting for their opponent to commit an error. However, Mohammedan maintained their lead as Pereira scored another goal for the team.
The annoyed Chanmari Zothan team marched aggressively as the opponent tactfully managed the ball. Soon, Nilton Fernandes and Sneden Medeira scored to increase the score by 4-0. K Roluapuia from Chanmari scored a point before Pereira scored again and led the team into a 5-1 victory.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru Football Club lost to Kuppuraj Football Club by 2-3 in Group B. Bekey Oram received a reverse pass from Edwin Rosario and scored a net to lead the Bengaluru team. Soon, Kuppuraj FC paced aggressively as Maria Vivek and Rajaganapathy K scored back-to-back hits and won the Qualifiers by 3-2.
The Bengaluru team will advance into the semifinals since they have a head-to-head record against Sporting Clube de Goa, who missed the qualifying stage despite winning against Speedforce FC in Group B.
