New Delhi: The Indian football team defeated Bhutan by 3-0 in the SAFF Under-19 (U-19) Women’s Championship 2021 held at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on Wednesday.
Footballer Sumati Kumari led India by scoring in the 7th minute, and Priyangka Devi charged with the ball to cut a sharp left corner in the 17th minute as India dominated the first half by 2-0. Meanwhile, Bhutan received penalties and corners.
The second half saw India’s Amisha Baxla passing a low cross from the right. However, Sumati Kumari was too far to score for the team. The Indian team kept pressurizing the opponents as they adopted an attacking strategy and possessed the ball. The team scored again in the 53rd minute when Kritina Devi passed a cross to Priyangka, who netted her second point in the game and led the team to victory.
It was India’s second consecutive win after defeating Sri Lanka on December 13, 2021. The team will play against Bangladesh on Friday.
