New Delhi, May 6: Veteran coach Cesar Luis Menotti, who won the 1978 World Cup with Argentina, passed away on Sunday, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) said.
“The AFA regrets to announce with great sadness the death of Cesar Luis Menotti, current Director of the National Teams and former World Cup-winning coach of Argentina. Farewell.”
Cesar joined the Argentine national team as a head coach in 1974 and led the team to win their first World Cup ever in 1978.
After leaving the Argentine team in 1982, he coached the world’s big clubs including FC Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Independiente, and Boca Juniors, among others.
