GANDHINAGAR, Nov 30: Polling begins in Gujarat on Thursday to elect a new 182-meber state Assembly. In the first phase of polling, 89 seats in the Kutch-Saurashtra and South Gujarat regions would be covered while in the second phase the remaining 93 seats in the north and central Gujarat regions would go to polls on December 5.
As many as 788 candidates are in the fray for the 89 seats where an electorate of 2.39 crore voters would exercise their franchise in 14,382 polling booths which included 3,311 urban and 11,071 booths in rural areas.
The polling will be held from 8 A.m. to 5 P.M.
