New Delhi: Congress troubleshooter DK Shivakumar who has been lodged at Tihar jail on Thursday, will be in the company of former finance minister P Chidambaram.
Officials said that Shivakumar, who was discharged from RML Hospital on Thursday, has also been lodged in jail number 7 of Tihar where P Chidambaram has been staying since September 5. Jail number 7 of Tihar prison is especially allotted for economic offenders who are in judicial custody or facing trial.
Ironically, Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram was also lodged in the same jail last year after he was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the INX Media case. Yasin Malik was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a terror funding case while Christian Michel is in judicial custody in connection with the AgustaWestland scam case and is in the same jail.
A Delhi court has sent Shivakumar to Tihar jail in judicial custody after ED’s custody of 14 days expired. Shivakumar’s lawyers have already filed a bail application before the court to grant him bail on grounds that he is not doing well. After his arrest, Shivakumar was admitted to the RML hospital on at least 5 occasions after complaints of chest pain and high blood pressure.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Karnataka former minister and Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar in connection with a hawala and money-laundering case.
