New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for his foreign minister being made the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
President Solih expressed gratitude to Modi for India’s assistance and support in the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic despite constraints.
Modi congratulated Solih on the election of Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid as President of the United Nations General Assembly, noting that the Maldives is a crucial pillar in India’s “Neighbourhood First” policy and marine vision of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the two leaders assessed the progress of India-supported development projects in the Maldives and expressed pleasure with the speedy pace of implementation.
The two leaders used their conversation discussion to assess the overall state of bilateral ties and to provide additional momentum and guidance to the ongoing substantive collaboration between the two nations.
