New Delhi: Prime Minister of Pakistan – Imran Khan expressed concern about rising inflation in the country. In an event – he said that “commodity prices have increased all over the world and Pakistan also imported inflation which hurt its people badly – but what the government could do in the circumstances.”

On the other side – Imran Khan said that “Pakistan is in a better economic condition than many countries in the region – especially India.”

According to Prime Minister Imran Khan, “Pakistan is still one of the cheapest countries compared to many countries in the world. They (opposition) call us incompetent, but the fact is that our government has saved the nation from all crises. Among others, the oil prices in Pakistan are lower than those in other countries.”

Imran Khan’s claims come – at a time when the government has introduced a finance bill in Parliament as a part of the requirements sought by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The bill, if cleared, will clear decks for USD 1 billion tranches in aid for Pakistan.

With the country marred with a financial crisis amid rising inflation and a surging trade deficit, the Imran Khan government in Pakistan has been cornered by the opposition PML-N and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), with some leaders demanding Kahn’s resignation.

Opposition leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif Tuesday said, “Pakistan is currently one of the most expensive countries of the world.” However, India is the sixth-largest economy in the world, while Pakistan is not even on the list of top-10.
