New Delhi: On Sunday, the newly-formed cricket team, Gujarat Titans, unveiled their official team logo in the Metaverse on Spatial.io ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. It became the first Indian sports team to launch a team logo in the Metaverse.
Head coach Ashish Nehra, captain Hardik Pandya and batsman Shubman Gill unveiled the logo. The trio even interacted in The Titans Dugout of the Metaverse.
According to the team, the triangular-shaped logo was inspired by a kite. The kite resembles the widely celebrated festival of Uttarayan and reflects the cultural heritage of Gujarat. Meanwhile, the soaring apex of the logo symbolises the team’s aims to scale new horizons and endless possibilities.
The logo also features a bolt of lightning to symbolize energy and power to illuminate the darkest of skies in a split second. It also stands for determination to turn adversities into triumphs.
Owned by CVC Capitals, Gujarat Titans includes players like Rashid Khan, Jason Roy, David Miller, Matthew Wade, Mohammed Shami, Rahul Tewatia, Lockie Ferguson, Vijay Shankar, Wriddhiman Saha, and Alzarri Joseph, among others.
Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants will debut in the 15th edition of the League this year.
