Cricket: England Women’s Team wins T20 series 2-1

New Delhi: England defeated India by 8 wickets in the final match of the T20 Indian-England Tour Series it won by 2-1.

The finals between India and England Women’s teams were held at the Essex Country Club stadium on Wednesday.

India chose to bat after winning the toss and scored 153 runs and 6 wickets in 20 overs. Opening batsman Smriti Mandhana scored 70 runs in 51 balls through 8 fours and 2 sixes.

However, England achieved the target within 18.4 overs and 2 wickets, with opener Daniel Wyatt scoring 89 runs in 56 balls through 12 fours and 1 six.

India’s Shefali Verma was bowled out by Katherine Brunt on the 2nd ball and Harleen Deol scored only 3 runs.

English players Tammy Beaumont and Wyatt scored 20 runs for the first wicket. Deepti Sharma took Beaumont on her 11th run.

Wyatt partnered with Natalie Sciver for the second wicket, where Nat scored 42 runs in 36 balls through 4 fours before being bowled over by Sneh Rana.

English team captain Heather Knight joined Wyatt at the 3rd wicket, thereby winning the match and the series.

Indian captain Harleen Kaur and Smriti Mandana scored 68 runs. Kaur scored 36 runs in 26 balls through 5 fours and 1 six.

On the other hand, Sophie Ecclestone from England took 3 wickets, Brunt took 2, and Nat took 1 Indian wicket on the 16th run.

This match marked Mandana’s 13th half-century in T20 internationals.
