Covid-19: India reports more than 8300 new cases in 24 hours

New Delhi: India recorded 8,329 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 10 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday (June 11), the country saw a total of 3,791 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate to around 98.69 percent, and total recoveries data reached 4,26,48,308.

The total active cases of COVID-19 in India have risen to 40,370, the health ministry data showed today. Yesterday, the registered active cases were 36,267.

Maharashtra on Friday recorded 3,081 new coronavirus infections, the highest in nearly four months, but zero pandemic-related deaths, the state health department said. State capital Mumbai alone accounted for 1,956 new cases, the highest since January 23. West Bengal recorded 107 cases.

On Friday, the capital Delhi recorded as many as 655 fresh Covid-19 infections in 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed. There have been 419 recoveries and 2 covid deaths in the national capital in the same time period.

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 194.90 crores on Friday, the Union Health Ministry said. Over 13 lakh vaccine doses have been administered till 7 pm on Friday, it said.
