Covid-19: India Reports 2.51 Lakh New Cases, 627 Deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi: With 2,51,209 people testing positive for the coronavirus infection in a day, India’s total tally of cases increased to over 4.06 crore, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

A decrease of 96,861 cases has been recorded in the active Covid-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The country also recorded 3,47,443 recoveries today, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,80,24,771.

The active cases comprise 5.18 percent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 93.60 percent.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 15.88 percent, while the weekly positivity rate was 17.47 percent, according to the health ministry.

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of anti-Covid vaccine doses administered in the country so far has crossed 164.44 crores.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
