New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday informed that the nation has reported 14,313 new cases in the last 24 hours, which is the lowest since early March. The government data shows that 181 coronavirus patients died yesterday.

According to data from the Union Health Ministry, India has been reporting below 20,000 new Covid-19 cases for the past few days. On Tuesday, India added 14,313 fresh Covid-19 infections, the lowest in 224 days, taking its overall Covid-19 tally to 33,985,920.

A serosurvey conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) revealed that almost 60% of children were infected with Covid-19. However, the death rate is 2 in a million in children, which is very low. But the worry is: What will happen if the third wave hits India. “There’s no such study to justify that vaccine will be very beneficial for children, said Dr. Sanjay Rai, Prof, Centre for Community Medicine, AIIMS Delhi. Which means children will be at risk.

The latest serosurvey conducted by the Kerala Health Department to estimate the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection showed the presence of antibodies in 82.6 percent of samples taken from residents aged 18 years and above.
