New Delhi: In the middle of the rising omicron cases worldwide, Dr. NK Arora – the chairman of the Covid-19 taskforce working group The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation in India (NTAGI) said that “Covaxin has shown a good immune response in children,”

Dr. NK Arora on the vaccine to the adult said that “Almost two-thirds of the deaths below 18 years which occurred due to covid in India are within this age group. There are two other advantages of immunizing adolescents. One is that they are mobile. They have to go to the schools-colleges, and the risk of getting an infection particularly in the light of omicron is present.”

However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday night announced that vaccines will be rolled-out for beneficiaries between the age group of 15 to 18.

NTAGI chief on the Covaxin vaccine said that “The response of Covaxin in children is better than that in adults, Vaccine is safe, and the study to measure the level of antibodies in children has conducted.”

If we give the same amount of the dose to children as adults, it produces better results in this age group, and implementation of the Covaxin program for children can be the same as that for adults, the Chief of NTAGI said.

The numbers of Omicron cases in the US and the UK are Steadily rising over the last few days. The London and Washington government has announced several restrictions and rules as omicron cases rise in these countries.
