  • Chandrayaan-2 located ‘Vikram’ about 500 meters from its original spot of landing.
  • Some experts claim the Moon is an artificial Space Station placed by ETs in its current orbit to keep an eye on Earth.
  • Fantasies about the existence of ETs’ life is no longer part of science fiction but a subject of serious scientific research.
Mysteries Unsolved… Was the Moon an artificial satellite put into the orbit round the Earth by some unknown intelligent beings?

On September 7, when millions of TV watchers saw Chandrayaan-2’s lander “Vikram” suddenly ‘vanish’ from its scripted path on the Moon, scientists and commoners were flummoxed alike as to the reason behind it. Two days later, the Orbiter of Chandrayaan-2 mission did locate Vikram, lying tilted about 500 metres from its appointed spot of landing, but no communication could be resumed so far.

What could be the reason behind deviation of Vikram’s path just 13 minutes before its touchdown? Was it ISRO’s technological glitch, a gravitational anomaly on the unexplored South Pole, or some ‘hidden hand’ of extra-terrestrial aliens who, some experts have long believed, are using the Earth’s satellite as a ‘space station’ to keep a watch on our planet!

According to some experts, in the post-World War II period of 1940s-1960s, most flying saucers were claimed to have been seen by the people in the USA and the then Soviet Union who both were exploding nuclear devices to emerge as super powers.

While ‘flying saucers’ still remain a mystery, a group of researchers have theorized that the Moon itself is not a natural celestial object but the ETs’ artificial Space Station brought from outer space and put into its present orbit around the Earth.

In 2016, the popular TV serial Ancient Aliens aired an interesting episode (Season 11, Episode 11) on History Channel about this theorization.

Fantasies about the existence of Extraterrestrial (ET) life is no longer part of science fiction but a subject of serious scientific research. Even investors are now getting attracted to support research projects on the ETs.

If countries like the USA, Russia, China and India are working on establishing their own space stations, why cannot the ETs, if they exist, do likewise? And why have humans launched around 110 Moon missions so far, about half of which failed?

In July 1969, Apollo 11 mission succeeded in putting the first humans, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin, on the Moon. But, despite this stupendous success, the mission was abandoned after Apollo 17 in 1972—for some unexplained, even mysterious, reasons. Did Armstrong and others witness something on the Moon they kept secret from the rest of mankind?

Interestingly, it was after these early Moon missions that George Lucas planned in the 1970s his magnum opus series on Star Wars. This series inspired US President Ronald Reagan to implement cinematographic fantasies into scientific realities, as in Star War-like gadgetry and rocketry. This forced the Soviet Union, too, to do likewise. As an afterthought, some experts later suggested that the ongoing Cold War between the two superpowers was actually a diversionary tactic and camouflage for their joint researches into the existence of ETs! With popular fantasies soaring, Steven Spielberg crafted his masterpiece E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in 1982.

According to ancient astronaut theorists, the Moon could actually be an artificial object placed in its current orbit by the ETs. In particular, South Pole of the Moon has remained unexplored for this possible reason.

The ultimate goal of the ongoing exoplanet program is to find unmistakable signs of life beyond the Earth. How soon that can happen depend on two factors: prevalence of life in the galaxy and how lucky we are as we take those first, tentative exploratory steps.

According to the Spaceship Moon hypothesis, our planet’s satellite is either wholly hollow or otherwise contains a substantial interior space. Though we are yet to get scientific evidence, the seismic data collected through observations and experiments suggest that it has a thin crust, extensive mantle and small, dense core, although overall it is much less dense than Earth—hence having a correspondingly lesser gravitational pull. Is this gravitational anomaly artificially manipulable?

Lander Vikram’s chosen touchdown spot was to be a plain surface on the South Pole, an unexplored area full of craters which have not seen sunlight for billions of years. This is because the angle at which sunlight hits the Moon’s South Pole region is such that the craters there have remained permanently under a shadow. And, scientists believe, these craters could contain iced-water below their surface—an exciting prospect that could open up endless possibilities for space exploration and further humanity’s understanding of the solar system.

Is this South Pole also home to any ETs? Did lander Vikram went incommunicado due to their presence?

In 1970, Michael Vasin and Alexander Shcherbakov, of the then Soviet Academy of Sciences, advanced a hypothesis that the Moon is a spaceship created by unknown beings. The article was entitled “Is the Moon the Creation of Alien Intelligence?”, and was published in Sputnik, the contemporary Soviet equivalent of Reader’s Digest. They believed that the Moon was an artificial satellite put into the orbit round the Earth by some unknown intelligent beings.

Their hypothesis relied on the premise that large lunar craters, assumed to be formed under meteor impact, are generally too shallow and have flat or even convex bottoms. They hypothesized that small meteors are making a cup-shaped depression in the rocky surface of the Moon while larger meteors are drilling through a rocky layer and hitting an armoured structure underneath. Some unidentified lunar objects in NASA photography may point to extra-terrestrial structures on the moon, and possibly evidence of what lay beneath the surface.

Over to Chandrayaan-3…!
