Ahmedabad: Amid the ongoing Sino-Indian border row, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the US-India Business Council (USIBC)’s India Ideas Summit on Wednesday (July 22).

He will speak on how the growing India-US partnership can play a pivotal role in shaping the post-COVID-19 world.

Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar and Finance Minister Nirmala Sithamran will also address the video-conference.

The India Ideas Summit marks the 45th anniversary of the formation of the USIBC. The relationship with India is “one of the all-important defense relationships of the 21st century, an American official said.

In 2019, USIBC hosted over 400 attendees in its first India Ideas Summit in Washington. More than 50 speakers and 10 panels focused on trade and connectivity between the two countries and across the Indo-Pacific Region.

The Summit also featured the 2nd annual USIBC start-up pitch competition, designed to connect under-represented entrepreneurs with investment and mentorship.

The COVID-19 pandemic could also be a broad theme of discussions along with a focus on India-China border dispute in the wake of violent clashes between their troops in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley.

Modi may also raise the issue of national security vis-à-vis Chinese technology companies.

The Summit will also be attended by Indian I-T companies’ leaders such as C Vijayakumar, President & CEO, HCL Technologies, N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Group & Co-Chair of the U.S.-India CEO Forum.
