New Delhi: The Indian Veterinary Association (IVA) has protested against animal rights activist, former Union Minister and BJP leader Maneka Gandhi for her alleged misbehaviour with a veterinary doctor.
In an audio clip doing the rounds on social media, Gandhi is allegedly heard abusing a veterinary doctor over the amputated leg of a dog.
Trending the #BoycottManekaGandhi on Twitter, the IVA also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting his attention in this regard so that the “image of a parliamentarian in the eyes of common people is not dented in the society.”
The letter reads, “It is a matter of grave concern that Smt. Maneka Gandhi, honourable MP, Lok Sabha, habitually and repeatedly threatens veterinarians claiming settlements (audio clip attached). In an earlier instance, we, at the Indian Veterinary Association, had requested her to refrain from using disgraceful and derogatory comments about the veterinary professionals like the first generation educated, etc.”
Several netizens supported the IVA and asked Gandhi to apologise on social media for her ‘unruly behaviour’.
