New Delhi: The national capital Delhi became the ninth state in India to report bird flu cases. Very famous Sanjay Lake in Delhi declared an ‘alert zone’ after detection of avian influenza.
Besides Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat and Maharashtra have already confirmed the cases of avian influenza.
The Animal Husbandry Department of Delhi confirmed that eight samples from dead crows and ducks reported positive for avian flu.
The state authority had sent a total of 104 samples to Bhopal and Jalandhar labs for testing avian influenza and the report came positive.
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has already closed the water body-cum-park in the famous Sanjay Lake after 17 more ducks were found dead on Sunday.
DDA closed Hauz Khas Park, Dwarka Sector 9 Park, Hastsal Park in the city also in the view of bird flu scare.
A few days back Maharashtra confirmed the cases of bird flu and became the eighth state in India. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had called a meeting to review the bird flu situation.
India had notified the first outbreak of avian influenza in 2006.
The Centre recently said that bird flu viruses have been circulating worldwide for centuries with four known major outbreaks recorded in the last century.
Case of Avian influenza transmitted to humans has not been found yet but people should take more care in this situation. World’s fight with coronavirus is not ended yet and in future all people have to take more care of themselves.
According to local vegetables merchants – the price of vegetables may go high in many states in the future, because people may avoid consumption of non-vegetarian food in the scare of bird flu.
