Asia Cup Tournament: India – Pakistan Match on September 14

NEW DELHI, July 26: India and Pakistan will play against each other in the 2025 Asia Cup on September 14. This will be the first match between the rival Asian neighbours since the Pahalgam terror attack and the consequent India’s “Operation Sindoor” military action against Pakistan.

The full schedule of the Asia Cup matches was released on Saturday. The tournament will begin on September 9 and end with the final on September 28. India and Pakistan are in the same group — Group A — alongside the UAE and Oman. This means that they can play each other in up to three matches in the tournament.

Afghanistan’s match against Hong Kong will kick off the group stage. India will play their first match on September 10 against the hosts, the UAE. The top four teams from the group stage will move on to the Super Four stage between September 20 and 26, where they’ll play each other once to determine the finalists.

The tournament will be hosted across two venues, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, in the UAE. Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the official host, the tournament will be staged at a neutral venue due to ongoing political tensions between India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

The tournament was in limbo for a long time due to the same issue. However, the ACC has been involved in extensive meetings over the past few months to finalise on this.
