New Delhi: India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, hosted Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi at India House on Tuesday (local time), ahead of the Army chief’s scheduled engagements in Washington, DC.

In a post on X, the Indian Embassy noted that General Dwivedi’s visit comes soon after similar trips by the Chiefs of the Naval and Air Staff, highlighting ongoing “high-level military exchanges between India and the U.S.”

The embassy highlighted the strategic importance of the visit, calling defence cooperation a key pillar of the India–U.S. comprehensive global strategic partnership. It added that the engagement is expected to deepen bilateral ties and support efforts toward a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.

Earlier on Monday, General Dwivedi received a formal Guard of Honour at Fort Shafter in Hawaii during his visit to the United States Army Pacific.

During his trip, he held detailed discussions with General Ronald P. Clark, Commanding General of USARPAC, along with other senior military leaders.

The Indian Army stated that the talks focused on “strengthening India-US defence cooperation and advancing a shared vision for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific.”

General Dwivedi also conducted an aerial survey of Oahu Island, “gaining insights into the training ecosystem and multi-domain operational readiness.”
