Ahmedabad Airport will be closed for nine hours every day till May 31

Ahmedabad: One of the busiest non-metro airports in the country, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International airport – will remain partially shut from Monday onwards (January 17) till May 31. Work in the airport will remain off from 9 am to 6 pm on all weekdays – due to planned recarpeting work on the runway.

The Airport informed the passengers through a tweet from its official Twitter handle. Authority tweeted that “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport will carry out scheduled runway re-carpeting work from 17 January 2022 to 31 May 2022. This work will be carried out from 9 am to 6 pm. We regret the inconvenience.”

Airport officials added that “Except on public holidays and Sundays, the resurfacing work will be carried out from 9 am to 6 pm. The airport on average witnesses 200 domestic and international flights operating from the arrival and departure terminals every day. Around 52 arriving and departing flights will be rescheduled from the airport from Monday. The work on the runway will begin on January 17 and conclude on May 31.”

Meanwhile, Gujarat has recorded 10,150 fresh coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, raising the state tally to 9,26,240, the health department stated.
