New Delhi: The youth of the nation has expressed their passion massively to serve the country as the Indian Air Force (IAF) has confirmed that they have received more than 56000 applications by Sunday evening.

The official website of the IAF shows that “56960! That’s the total number of applications received till date from future Agniveers in response to the Agnipath recruitment application process on https://agnipathvayu.cdac.in. Registration closes on July 5,”

On the Agnipath scheme, the government has said: “youth between the ages of 17-and-a-half and 21 years would be inducted for a four-year tenure, while 25 percent of them will be subsequently inducted for regular service.”

However, several parts of the country witnessed violent protests against the scheme. On June 16, The government had increased the upper age limit for recruitment under the scheme to 23 years from 21 for the year 2022 and subsequently announced a slew of placatory steps like a preference for them in central paramilitary forces and defense public sector undertakings upon their retirement.

Agnipath Scheme (also spelled Agneepath Scheme) (Hindi: Agnīpath Yojanā, transl: Fire-Path Scheme) is a new scheme introduced by the Government of India on 14 June 2022, for the recruitment of soldiers below the rank of commissioned officers into the three services of the armed forces.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced the ‘Agneepath’ scheme on Tuesday, June 14. The central government had said that ‘Agniveers’ will get Rs 30,000-45,000 per month as salary. At the end of the four-year contract, 25 percent of ‘Agniveer’ will be inducted into the army.
