NEW DELHI, Oct 9: In a surprise move, Pakistan’s telecommunication authority has blocked the Chinese app TikTok on Friday citing that the company has failed to comply with the government’s instructions for “development of an effective mechanism for proactive moderation of unlawful online content.”
A report by a Pakistani news agency quoted the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) as saying that the ban was imposed following people from several sections of society expressing their grievances over “immoral and indecent content on the video-sharing application.”
The app which has faced problems in the year 2020 in United States, India and Australia was issued a final warning by the PTA to moderate the content shared on their platform earlier this year in July.
The news has come as a welcome development among the people in India considering the ever-growing military and civilian co-operations between China and Pakistan to the detriment of India.
