New Delhi: The South Korean football team defeated the Philippines 2-0 in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup semifinals at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Pune, on Thursday, February 03, 2022.

The match began with Korean player Jo So-Hyun shooting a header from a corner kick in the 4th minute. Korea dictated the match and held the maximum possession of the ball throughout the game.

The lead extended when Korea’s Cho Jyu Hoo gave a corner to Son Hwayeon in the 33rd minute. Son shot from the left, and the ball struck the pole in the 33rd minute.

Though Korea had more scoring chances throughout the match, Philippines’ goalkeeper Oliva McDaniel saved several attempts, especially in the last 20 minutes, and stopped Korea from scoring further.

Team Philippines suffered a major setback due to the possession in Korea’s favour. They played most of the match in their box and defended the opponents.

The Philippines tried defending the Koreans but failed to grab enough scoring chances. A few attempts went over the crossbar, while others failed to get past Korea’s clinical backline.

South Korea will face China in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 finals on Sunday, February 06, 2022.
